چکیده

Purpose: To determine the reliability of TwoDocs computerized test for the evaluation of color vision and contrast sensitivity in normal adults. Methods: Thirty normal volunteers aged from 20 to 30 years (mean 23.3 years) had their color vision and contrast sensitivity tested by a new computerized test (TwoDocs test). Informed consent was obtained from all participants before testing. Inclusion criteria were: absence of visual complaints, absence of previous ophthalmic surgery, absence of family history of ophthalmologic diseases, best corrected visual acuity for near and distance of 20/20. Tests with the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-hue (FM-100) test for color vision assessment and the Pelli-Robson chart for contrast sensitivity measurement were also performed on the same visit, and both were considered gold standards for clinical validation. Results: The results of contrast sensitivity obtained with the PelliRobson chart and TwoDocs test showed agreement of 100%. Color vision results obtained with the TwoDocs test showed a strong trend to overestimate color vision classification when compared with FM-100. Conclusion: The new computerized psychophysical TwoDocs test showed a high sensitivity and specificity for contrast sensitivity measurement and can be a useful clinical tool in ophthalmology practice for this visual task. Color vision classification obtained with the TwoDocs test showed a low specificity when compared with FM100. One possible reason for this overestimation is the computer monitor used to generate the color pattern. Additional studies in patients with disorders in color vision should be done for understanding the usefulness of this method better in clinical color vision assessment. The Evaluation of Yellow vs. Blue Color Contrast Sensitivity pre and Post LASIK

Introduction: contrast sensitivity is one of the most important psychophysical tests that may be used for the evaluation of refractive state of eye and retinal image quality. Yellow vs. blue color contrast sensitivity may be more suitable in this regard. Materials and Methods: thirty myopic eyes were considered in this study. Yellow vs. blue color contrast sensitivity was evaluated under the sa...

Impairment of color spatial vision in chronic alcoholism measured by psychophysical methods

We used psychophysical tests to evaluate spatial vision in 15 subjects with a clinical history of chronic alcoholism by measuring luminance contrast sensitivity and color discrimination. The subjects were initially subjected to clinical inquiry and ophthalmological exam. Subjects then performed psychophysical tests to measure spatial contrast thresholds using sine wave gratings of different spa...

Psychophysical Evaluation of Achromatic and Chromatic Vision of Workers Chronically Exposed to Organic Solvents

The purpose of this paper was to evaluate achromatic and chromatic vision of workers chronically exposed to organic solvents through psychophysical methods. Thirty-one gas station workers (31.5 ± 8.4 years old) were evaluated. Psychophysical tests were achromatic tests (Snellen chart, spatial and temporal contrast sensitivity, and visual perimetry) and chromatic tests (Ishihara's test, color di...

Organic solvents are neurotoxic substances that can cause damaging effects in the visual system. Occupational exposure to these substances is common because they are used in a wide variety of activities. These effects can be quantified by specific psychophysical tests. The most commonly used tests for color vision assessment are arrangement tests, such as the Lanthony Panel D-15 desaturated tes...

Psychophysical contrast calibration

Electronic displays and computer systems offer numerous advantages for clinical vision testing. Laboratory and clinical measurements of various functions and in particular of (letter) contrast sensitivity require accurately calibrated display contrast. In the laboratory this is achieved using expensive light meters. We developed and evaluated a novel method that uses only psychophysical respons...
